Flour And Grain Exchange

The Flour and Grain Exchange building, was designed by the architecture firm of Shepley, Rutan and Coolidge in 1891. The rusticated masonry and multi-tiered arches exemplify the Richardsonian Romanesque style.
Building on Right

Originally a meeting hall for the Boston Chamber of Commerce, the Exchange was built on land donated by streetcar magnate Henry M. Whitney and completed in 1892. Shepley, Rutan and Coolidge designed the tiered arches and rock-faced masonry which exemplify the Romanesque Revival style of H.H. Richardson. The sturdy walls and elaborate design reflect an expression of financial security appropriate to the city's commercial circles. The exterior was restored by The Beal Companies in 1988." see http://www.celebrateboston.com/ link

Two Hanover Square (BB&T Building)

29 Story, BB&T Building built in 1991. Currently the tallest builidng in Raleigh, NC. There was a request for this building at Simtropolis by a member named tudorjason , so I decided I'd try to search out some pictures and BAT this one out. Pictures were very limited, and since Raleigh is not in my future trip plans, I decided to piece together what infomation I could from the few photos. This is a rough draft of the building so far. I have to work up the base a little more.
I wanted to post something to let you all know I'm still working on BAT projects. I've been busy with personal issues. Updates to come.

El Edificio Puerto Kesterson

This building you will not find in any city.

I put some experimental textures and parts together and came up with... well, this building. It looked good; so instead of trashing this, it's yours for the downloading. The building is earth friendly with solar panels and converting devices on the roof. The large breeze way allows controlled air currents to propel..I'm not going to get into engineering details, use your imagination.

Slow Going

The power went out due to several storms in the area. The generator developed a leaky fuel shut off value, therefore, it can not be turned on. Without power, I don't sleep well due to my sleep apena. It will take couple of days to get in full swing again. Thank God we did not have the terrible winds like down South.

My next project I am working on is this church. I've run a rough draft all the way to the Lot Editor and I need to work on some of the textures.

Extra prayer tonight to those who lost so much in the tornados in Alabama, Arkansas, Tenneessee, and all the other areas that has been devastated.

It should be ready by this evening

Pittsburgh's Downtown Hilton

This is a model for Simcity 4 game, using the Pittsburgh Hilton as a guide. It's not like the real one in Pittsburgh because I added the logos. Go Steelers (in the 2008-9 season).

Here again is the model in gMax. It took about 5 hours to make and only 45 minutes to render.
Just about as much time is spent getting the info needed to post on the web site and uploading the model to a hosting site as it does making the model.

The Nebraska State Capital

The Nebraska State Capital was designed (1919-32) by Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue. Only one of three highrise capitols, the building is extensively decorated, mostly with art which relates the development of the rule of law, democracy & the state of Nebraska.

Here is my model in gMax. It's not what I expected when I exported it out of 3ds Max 9 and imported into gMax, but it'll do.

And after rendering, converting to plug-in, and adding to a Lot

Here is the Lot deplicting a block that includes a chuch, a library, and a department store. I really like the way it turned out. I use gMax to create the model and then I gather textures from all over the web or take the camera out and find the right image from something local. I choose from several different sources. Once I find a image I like, then it is applied to the model. Usually, I will have to adjust the texture. I use Adobe Photoshop, Up's paint or/and MS paint. Onced the model looks good I render it (make it compatiable for Simcity 4). Onced rendered then a program creates a "plug-in" file that makes it readable in the Simcity Lot Editor. A Lot is created by adjusting the block size, ground textures, and props for decorations and the building is saved to a Simcity 4 game readible format. Then one can plop it (add it to) the actual game while playing Simcity 4. There are many options one can add to the lot during each course of this transaction. It would take a little real time game playing of Simcity 4 to understand terms we use like, Landmark, residential, plopable, growable, etc. Basically here, I am going to state my perference to all lots are simplicity. No added plug-ins, extra files, or magical wands needed. My lots will not interfer with the game engine. Therefore, unless requested. All my lots/models have...

  • No lights (for nite time playing. I play daytime mode only -- here I'm lazy)
  • Landmark models (I dont play with the numbers to create jobs, mayor ratings, etc)
  • Basic props (only the ones that came with Simcity 4 Deluxe)
  • No Dependencies (they have some good stuff, especially at Simtropolis, but I dont use them)
  • other stuff I'll add later.

Here is an image of the model in the game, after making it a lot in the Lot editor

Introduction

Hello,
I'm a Simcity 4 BAT'er. In other words, I design buildings that are used in a game called Simcity 4. These are my post and current updates. This blog is started because many of the fan sites have died or changed formats and I like to keep things consistant. A lot of time goes into designing these buildings.

The Simcity 4 lots can be downloaded at Simvision.net if you are a member (which is free). I dont host files here.
